Motivation for Men – Keeping it Pure #1 : Stone Upon Stone

This week for 7 days I want to post some motivationals for men to aspire to. In light of our health series starting Wednesday night lets throw our focus towards God to help us understand Who we are suppose to be!
“Stone Upon Stone”

In Old Testament times, major cities would often be fortified with large stone walls surrounding them. The erection of these walls was no doubt labor-intensive, time-consuming and expensive. However, once completed these walls served as an effective deterrent to invading armies, since the walls could only be breached by large armies able to surround the city and mount an extended siege.

For those of us who have struggled to overcome or maintain victory over sexual sin and temptation, the defenseless feeling we have when our self-control has been breached is all too familiar. While we were raised from our childhood not to steal, cheat, fight or lie and to relate well with others, sexual temptation typically peaks at a later time in our lives, with a greater stigma involved. As a result, many men find overcoming sexual sin to be a very lonely battle.

At the same time, there is hope! Our walls can be rebuilt, but it will take time, effort, patience, resilience and willingness to accept help from others. We rebuild our walls one stone at a time, taking the many truths from God’s word that have been given to protect us and putting them in their proper place. What it takes to start is the realization that our sexual purity is worth the time, the effort and the fight to reclaim and to protect.

Proverbs 25:28 – 28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
